Margarita is a vibrant force in the Tex-Mex art scene, blending the rich cultural heritage of her Mexican roots with the bold spirit of Texas. Her work pulses with the energy of the borderlands – where two worlds collide, creating a unique space for her expressive, evocative art.
Born and raised in Texas, Margarita’s upbringing was steeped in the traditions of her Mexican heritage, from colourful festivals to the deep rhythms of ranchera and cumbia music. These influences are woven into her art, where she uses vivid colours, dynamic patterns and symbolic motifs to represent the blending of cultures, identities and histories. Her pieces speak to the heart of what it means to straddle two worlds, capturing both the joy and the tension that comes with living in between.
Margarita’s artistic style is rooted in abstraction and symbolism, drawing from the rich tradition of Mexican muralism, yet infused with a contemporary twist. Her work often features bold lines, geometric shapes and earthy tones, creating a visual language that is at once modern and steeped in tradition. With a keen eye for the beauty in everyday life, Margarita explores themes of identity, memory and the complexity of cultural heritage, inviting viewers to reflect on the intersections of past, present and future.
Art, for Margarita, is a lifelong journey – one that allows her to reconnect with her roots, challenge the present and create a legacy for future generations. When she’s not in the studio, Margarita can be found working with local youth, mentoring young artists and advocating for greater representation in the arts from marginalised communities.
